Jane Benoit (she/her) is a second year PhD candidate in the Cell and Molecular Biology program at Florida State University. Her current focus is understanding how host cell chromatin dynamics are altered during viral infections and innate immune stimulation. She earned her BS in Biology with minors in psychology and chemistry from the University in North Florida where she worked in an arthropod borne virus laboratory. She is a teaching assistant in the Department of Biological Sciences and has taught four different courses ranging from an introductory laboratory to intensive modern molecular biology. She serves as a member of the departmental Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee and the graduate student welcome committee in addition to mentoring undergraduate students through the UROP and FGLSAMP programs. Apart from academic work and volunteering, Jane enjoys reading, outdoor activities, and spending time with three excellent cats and a capricious group of dairy goats.
